RUNNING ROBOT

A short trip across to Barcelona this week, taking two UK journalists to the European premiere of the latest incarnation of Honda's humanoid robot, ASIMO.

Quite a sight to behold - ASIMO now runs at 4mph both in a straight line and whilst turning, as well as being able to deliver a tray of drinks, slalom and recognise obstructions in its path. It took 20 years to get here - and the next stage is the big one - Artificial Intelligence. Completely mind-blowing stuff - even as some one who's been lucky enough to meet ASIMO several times, it still amazes me.

Happy (and amazed) journalists, a glimpse of the future, and a bit of cafe' culture on Las Ramblas. Liverpool next for a spot of power boating over the weekend - just hoping the rain stops.
